Gay activists apparently don't know how to tell their friends from their foes. In a region where only one country in the world doesn't execute gays, gay activists have chosen that country to boycott. Yes, of course, it's Israel. Ronn Torossian got it right:

One wonders what these gay rights activists can possibly know about these supposed human rights violations and the on-the-ground situation in Gaza or the West Bank. Surely, they haven’t traveled or spent time there, because they would know that they wouldn’t be safe with the Hamas/Palestinian government. Of course, they haven’t spoken out about the violence Jews face in these regions. One wonders what justification Tachtell and other gay activists can have to boycott Israel, their strongest supporter in the Middle East. Tachtell’s boycott started a few months earlier when he criticized the IGLYO – the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Lesbian Youth and Student Organization for accepting an invitation from its Israeli chapter to hold its general assembly in Tel Aviv. He was among the first to criticize IGLYO for agreeing to a conference in Israel and said that he “fears that Israel may not be accessible to delegations from Arab countries.” They neglect the fact that Arabs can visit Israel, unlike Jews that seek to visit Arab countries.

Remember there are no gays in Iran.... (P.s. They hang them as they find them...)

In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country," Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said at Columbia University last night in response to a question about the recent execution of two gay men there.

"In Iran we do not have this phenomenon," he continued. "I do not know who has told you we have it."

The Iranians are apostates from Islam, not following the teachings of the prophet.I'm sure their Sunni brothers know how to deal with that.

"The reliance of the traveler " has been certified by Al-Azah (the Harvard of the Islamic world) as an authentic source of sharia law.

*2*Chapter P17.0: Sodomy and Lesbianism

@P17.1In more than one place in the Holy Koran, Allah recounts to us the story of Lot's people, and how He destroyed them for their wicked practice. There is consensus among

both Muslims and the followers of all other religions that sodomy is an enormity. It is even viler and uglier than adultery.

@P17.2Allah Most High says:

"Do you approach the males of humanity, leaving the wives Allah has created for you?

But you are a people who transgress" (Koran 26:165-66).

@P17.3The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said:

-1- "Kill the one who sodomizes and the one who lets it be done to him."

there is no consensus on the manner of killing.but all are unpleasant.Thrown from a great height, or crushed by having a masonry wall fall on them.Hanging is not an approved method of execution. It's the "kafir" way. It's not the islamic way.

-2- "May Allah curse him who does what Lot's people did."

and 'allah" and or Mohammad, was dumb as @!$%#, Lot's people did not want anal sex it was threatened to be forced upon them.It was the people of Sodom, who wanted to force anal sex on the visitors to Lot's place of residence.

-3- "Lesbianism by women is adultery between them."

adultery is harshly punished, 100 lashes with a bullwhip.or stoning

*2*Chapter P18.0: Charging a Woman Who Could Be Chaste (def: o13.2) With Adultery

Homosexuality: The Islamic viewpoint

From the aforementioned verses of the Quran, it is obvious that Allah destroyed the first set of people to embark on this act by turning their towns upside down while they were thereafter pelted with stones.

Since this act is one of the most criminal acts in Islam, equally its punishment is one of the greatest. All Muslim scholars agreed that death is the basic judgement such individuals deserve. This is in line with the saying of Prophet Muhammad as reported by Ibn Abbas: “If anyone is caught committing the act of the people of Lut, kill both the committer and the person with whom the act is committed” (Abu Dawud).

However, there is a divergence of opinions on the methodology to be used in executing the punishment. While some scholars such as Abu bakr and Ali were of the view that such a person should be beheaded and set on fire thereafter,

I"m going to call be-heading, and then burning the body, excessive to the point of sadistic. (EVIL)

Umar and Uthman thought the wall should be fell on him.

The Taliban used this method in it's execution of homosexuals

To Ibn Abbas, he should be taken to the tallest building in the town, thrown upside down while some men stand on the ground waiting to meet him with stone in replication of the destruction done to the people of Lut by Allah.

I can find no redeeming value, in this religious "aid, or guide, to society" known as sharia law

Dear peoples, the gays reject truth as they try to get the rest of the world to view homosexuality as normal and natural. Even those who are not gay but affirm their views buy into the lie. How is it then that we could expect them to recognize the truth that Israel alone won't condemn them? They've already proven that their agenda is something other than truth.

I see that you have a problem thinking that anti-semitism and Jew-hatred exists with greater frequency and in more localities then is evident in reality. The headline is a bit disingenuous in that it seems to portray Israel as the only country gay activists are boycotting. This is on its face patently absurd.

    1. I don't see any organized demonstration in the link you provided.

    2. Read the headline carefully- It only pertains to the mideast.

so the boycott for South Afric was what? anti-white? hatred towards white? Most people involved in the boycot were white.

It is so sad tht the word "anti-semitism" has lost most of its power because it has been misused so much these days. Ity should bring sadness and concern, yet these days people don;t even pay attention to it and this is very, very sad

so the boycott for South Afric was what?

    Interesting question.

I just re-read the headline, and in response to you question, here's what i think it was (and was not!):

1-it was not about homosexuality in the least ...the headline states, in part, that "gay activists continue to boycott"... that was not true in the case if the boycott of South Africa.

2-South Africa is not in the miidles east. The headline quite clearly states that this srtory is not about gay rights issues globally, but rather, only about the middle east :

Gay activists continue to boycott only state in Middle East that doesn't execute them

(The only thing I would quibble about here is that the headline is an over-generalization-- all "Gays" do not share the same political views any more than all "Straights" do. In fact there are many Gays who are Zionists).

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but Israel is in the middle east and not South Africa......Unless of course there was one heck of an earthquake that I haven't heard about.......It still doesn't make any sense to me, the only country not trying to wipe them out and they boycott it......

Also remember that Gays cannot demonstrate in Islamic countries. So they are limited to where they can demonstrate.

But on teh other hand ... So why don't they demonstrate against the lack of Gay rights in Islamic countries? Muslims don't seem to have an issue demonstrating against Gays!

Arabs dont care and do nothing for the Syrians, so why would it amaze you that the Queers take a position against the only country where they are safe and support countries that hang them. Homosexuals stand by the Anti Israel crowd the same way the Copts stand by the Egyptians no matter how bad they treat them. A Copt in Egypt would sooner starve at the Muslims hands then take an apple from Jewish hands. Thats why they are all so F.....D up.

I disagree. I think they have just fallen victim to propaganda like many other people, before and now:

"Islamic fundamentalism, like European totalitarianism in the 20th century, was and is a mixture of very old and very modern elements.

"It is also a product of a mixture of some indigenous currents in the history of Islam with the hatred of democracy, liberalism and the Jews that were so central to National Socialism.

Mr Herf uncovered 6,000 transmissions, produced under the propaganda minister Josef Goebbels and sent around the Arab world from 1939 to 1945.

Yeah we are...probably a poor attempt at sarcasm on my part.

I think your article is just a sliver of the problem. Educated germany fell victim to the propaganda back in the day and now it's just a much bigger problem, not just with gay people. Those that would claim to stand for human rights in general seem to be against the only country in the ME that actually upholds them while supporting those that do not.

Really want to know what gays boycotting Israel think? or is this one of many 'pinkwashing' appeal stories? Consider this well supported opinion published in the NYT:

In 2005, with help from American marketing executives, the Israeli government began a marketing campaign, “Brand Israel,” aimed at men ages 18 to 34. The campaign, as reported by The Jewish Daily Forward, sought to depict Israel as “relevant and modern.” The government later expanded the marketing plan by harnessing the gay community to reposition its global image.

    ...

The growing global gay movement against the Israeli occupation has named these tactics “pinkwashing”: a deliberate strategy to conceal the continuing violations of Palestinians’ human rights behind an image of modernity signified by Israeli gay life.
