Underlining his hard-line position, he said on Monday he will not make "even one compromise" on the issues of building, borders and the demand that Israel allow several million foreign Arabs to immigrate to the Jewish State based on ancestral claims.
His remarks have been out of line with an appeal from U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell that both the PA and Israel keep their negotiations between themselves and not in the media.
Abbas also has reiterated his often-stated refusal to recognize Israel as Jewish State. Such a designation could preclude his demand to flood Israel with Arabs, a situation which would reduce Jews to a minority in the country.
